These are a critical part of many filter system especially if a vortex, sieve or other settlement chamber is not present. Brushes are used as a mechanical filter media and are used for the removal of solid waste in the first or early stages of a filter. Brushes come in numerous sizes, and hence it is best to choose the size which will fit your filter. When purchasing brushes be sure to buy enough to ensure that they all touch, but do not buy to many as you do not want them crammed together as this will hinder the flow of water through your filter and result in them becoming clogged very quickly.
